In addition to teaching about cost-effectiveness analysis and health economics more generally, he has also taught about leadership ethics and an introduction to the United States healthcare system with a focus on whether the system and its regulation encourage or inhibit innovation. The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee focusing on myopia that he co-chaired will release their final report in Fall 2024. In the past he has served on a study section for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Institute for Nursing Research Advisory Council.
