Dr. Chitale is the System Vice-Chair of Anatomic Pathology and Pathology Academic Program, Division Head of Molecular Pathology and Genomic Medicine, and Medical Director of the HFCI Tissue Biorepository & Immunohistochemistry research core at Henry Ford Health. He also serves as Clinical Professor at Michigan State University and Associate Clinical Professor at Wayne State University. A board-certified pathologist with expertise in Molecular Genetic Pathology, Molecular Diagnostics, and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Dr. Chitale earned an MBA with Distinction from the University of Michigan.
Recognized as one of Hour Detroit’s Top Docs (2016-2023), Dr. Chitale has co-authored 99 peer-reviewed publications, 10 book chapters, and 5 books. His research, funded by organizations such as the NIH, NCI, and DoD, focuses on breast and prostate cancer, including epigenetic alterations and molecular diagnostics. He has presented over 150 abstracts at national and international meetings and contributed to molecular testing guidelines for lung cancer.
Dr. Chitale has mentored over 40 residents and fellows and was awarded Best Teacher in Anatomic Pathology in 2015, 2016, and 2023. He is a frequent invited speaker at local and international events and serves as a manuscript reviewer for eight high-impact journals, advancing the field of pathology through education and innovation.
