Dr. Ryan Schmidt is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, and Assistant Director of the Clinical Genomics Laboratory in the Center for Personalized Medicine in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Schmidt received his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his MD from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt completed a Molecular Genetic Pathology fellowship at Harvard Medical School and a Clinical Pathology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is focused on advancing patient care through the development, implementation, and interpretation of molecular diagnostic tests. His clinical interests include clinical bioinformatics, constitutional genetics, and molecular oncology. Within the Clinical Bioinformatician Body of Knowledge project, Dr. Schmidt served as Chair of the Clinical Laboratory Regulation and Data Security Knowledge Core Working Group.
