Dr. Goar is a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) with over 10 years’ experience in the field of computational genetics and bioinformatics. He is intimately familiar with the three major community guidelines for variant classification along with all the databases and tools used within those guidelines. He has a deep understanding of the challenges that researchers and clinicians face when using many different databases with different standards of formatting and annotation in their workflows. He works with the NCH clinical team and collaborators to develop tools and resources to harmonize data and perform variant classification within a clinical framework to provide clinicians with the best data possible to treat patients. Dr. Goar is also highly involved in the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health, ClinGen Somatic, the Variant Interpretation for Cancer Consortium and the Cancer Genomics Consortium.
