Sean Zhang, MD, PhD is associate professor of pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Medical Director of Medical Mycology Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, U.S.A.. He is American Board-certified in Medical Microbiology (ABMM) with expertise in fungal diagnostics. Research focuses on developing rapid and nonculture-based tools for fungal diagnostics and antifungal drug resistance. He has authored over 100 publications. He is Executive Editor of Medical Mycology, editorial board member of Clinical Microbiology Reviews, a voting member to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Antifungal Susceptibility Testing subcommittee, current member of American Society of Microbiology (ASM) Laboratory Practice Subcommittee, current member of College of American Pathologist (CAP) Microbiology Committee, Mycology Section Editor for the Manual of Clinical Microbiology (13th &14 Edition). He is also a co-founding chair of Fungal Diagnostics Laboratory Consortium (FDLC) in the USA/Canada.
