Dr. Jehannine (J9) Austin is a Professor in Psychiatry & Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. J9 is a board certified genetic counsellor and their research work involves studying topics including models for and the impact of genetic counselling. They have published over 150 papers including publications looking at trans and non-binary peoples perspectives on how sex and gender are represented in medical family histories, and contributing to a practice resource on the same topic for the National Society of genetic Counselors. As well, they have written a book, and won awards for teaching, leadership, and research.
