Moving Past Panels: Somatic Exomes and Transcriptomes in an Academic Medical Center

Somatic genetic testing has evolved significantly over the last decade from targeted RT-PCR based testing to large next generation sequencing based panels. Multiple efforts have been made to implement somatic exome sequencing in clinical practice to overcome the overheads of repeated panel validations associated with the discovery of newer targets. Validation of transcriptome sequencing has been even more challenging given the nuances associated with validation and the need for increased sensitivity. This talk will focus on the validation and clinical implementation of scalable somatic exome and transcriptome sequencing while providing a path to expansion across multiple institutions.
