Description: This presentation will cover the use of unbiased high-throughput sequencing data to identify viruses, determine their integration status, and characterize mutations in tumor sequencing data with a focus on polyomavirus-mediated cancers, Merkel cell carcinoma and bladder cancer.
Learning Objectives: 1. Learn about the basic biology of polyomaviruses and their relevance to human disease 2. Discuss the known and emerging mechanisms of how these viruses can cause cancer 3. Discuss the computational techniques for virus identification and integration characterization
