Session
Description: This session will explore the critical role of benchmarks and standards in the evolving landscape of clinical molecular diagnostics. We will delve into the work of the Genome in a Bottle Consortium, which develops benchmarks for human genome variant calling in normal and cancer samples, frequently used for training and testing variant callers, including AI-based approaches. Additionally, we will discuss how AI is revolutionizing clinical molecular diagnostics, emphasizing the importance of building consensus standards and enacting flexible but effective regulatory policies to ensure patient safety and ethical AI use. Join us to understand the interconnected processes of standard development and regulatory policy in advancing precision medicine.
